How to block Twitch while you work

A stream in a background tab feels harmless until you notice you have been watching chat for an hour. Flowly blocks twitch.tv in Chrome during focus time.

Why a stream “in the background” isn't background

Live streams are made to pull you back: a chat that never stops, a big moment that could happen any minute. Even with the tab hidden, part of your attention keeps checking in.

That constant half-attention makes focused work slow. Closing the stream during work helps more than turning the volume down.

Plan your streams

If you follow a streamer, decide in advance which streams you will watch, and keep Twitch closed the rest of the day. A focus timer helps for shorter blocks, a schedule for the whole workday.
